“Who am I?”
“What is my purpose?”
“Why do church teachings not resonate with the things I feel must be true about God?”
If you’ve found yourself asking these questions, consider Numinism as a resource to help you better understand Biblical answers. Numinism derives from the Latin word for “Spirit,” and we believe that the Holy Spirit (or soul, spark, essence) is the part of us that is divine and eternal. It resonates with the will and majesty of God.
While we believe in one God the same way that most other Christians do, we recognize that the way He communicates through us varies dramatically from person to person. He may inspire you to write a great story. He may sharpen your reasoning in the lab on the verge of an interesting discovery. He may give you satisfaction in a job well done. He may harden you with moral courage when you need it most. Or He may do something completely different. We believe God is the source of human inspiration, and that God inspires us in order to make ourselves, our communities, and our world better.
Numinism breaks down the manifestations of God’s inspiration into three main channels: Mind, Body, and Blood. Each channel is sensitive to God’s will in its own way. Thinkers, Feelers, and Caregivers, representatives from these three channels, naturally experience God differently from each other because their interests, desires, and lives are different. These categories help us make sense of God’s diversity and illustrate it to our followers.
Think of your own relationships with your parents, siblings, children, friends, and colleagues. By understanding the ways they need to communicate, to show or feel love, to find fulfillment, and to experience growth, you can better navigate and strengthen those relationships. The same is true with your relationship with God. He wants to communicate with you in the ways you need it most, and in the way that’s most authentic to yourself. Numinism will help you explore your own divine purpose, and then to use that purpose to grow closer to God and make yourself, your community, and the world better.

The 9 Faces of God
One of the common images we use to communicate the three channels of God’s inspiration is the 9-pointed star.
This star reflects 9 characteristics of God that we observe through the channels of Mind, Body, and Blood.
God is a Teacher, Healer, Warrior, Poet, Parent, Scientist, Judge, Lover, and Artisan. Each of these characteristics, or faces, has its own set of principles, preferences, and expressions that help us relate to Him.
The Teacher embodies wisdom and guidance, illuminating the path of knowledge for others. The Teacher nurtures curiosity and inspires a love for learning. Their voice carries the weight of experience, and their words resonate with truth. The Teacher fosters growth, encouraging others to ask questions, explore ideas, and discover their potential. They see every challenge as an opportunity for growth, patiently guiding students through the complexities of life and the universe.
The Scientist embodies curiosity and inquiry, driven by a quest for understanding the universe. With a sharp intellect and analytical mind, they explore the natural world, seeking truth through observation and experimentation. The Scientist embraces the unknown, viewing challenges as opportunities for discovery. Their work unravels the intricacies of existence, revealing the interconnectedness of all things. Through their insights, they inspire innovation and progress, reminding us that knowledge is a pathway to enlightenment.
The Judge represents fairness and integrity, upholding justice in a world often fraught with imbalance. With a discerning eye and a compassionate heart, they weigh actions and intentions, striving to create harmony in society. The Judge understands the complexity of human behavior, offering guidance and resolution. Their presence instills a sense of accountability and responsibility, reminding individuals of the impact of their choices. Through their decisions, they foster a culture of respect and equity, championing the rights of the marginalized.
The Healer is compassionate, devoted to restoring balance and well-being. With a nurturing touch, they listen deeply to the pain of others, offering solace and understanding. Their energy radiates warmth and comfort, creating a safe space for healing. The Healer understands that true healing encompasses the body, mind, and blood. Through their presence, they inspire hope, guiding others toward wholeness and encouraging them to embrace their innate capacity for healing.
The Warrior represents courage and strength, standing resolute in the face of adversity. With determination, they fight for justice and protect the vulnerable. The Warrior's heart is fierce yet compassionate, driven by a deep sense of purpose. They inspire others to rise against oppression and face their fears. With each challenge, they teach the importance of resilience, showing that true strength lies not only in physical prowess but also in the ability to stand up for what is right.
The Lover embodies the essence of connection and intimacy, celebrating the profound bond between beings. With an open heart, they express affection and vulnerability, nurturing relationships that enrich the soul. The Lover understands that love transcends boundaries, uniting people in a shared experience of joy and compassion. Their presence ignites passion and tenderness, encouraging others to embrace the beauty of vulnerability. Through love, they inspire acceptance, understanding, and the realization that true strength lies in connection.
The Artisan represents creativity and craftsmanship, pouring heart and soul into every creation. With skilled hands and a visionary spirit, they transform raw materials into works of beauty and utility. The Artisan values the process of creation, seeing it as a sacred expression of the divine. Their work reflects individuality and a deep appreciation for the world’s intricacies. Through their artistry, they inspire others to appreciate beauty in all forms, reminding us that creativity is a divine gift meant to be shared and celebrated.
The Poet captures the beauty and complexity of existence through the art of words. With a keen sensitivity to the world around them, they weave emotions into verses that resonate with the human experience. The Poet sees the divine in the ordinary, finding inspiration in nature, love, and the intricacies of life. Through their creativity, they invite others to explore their feelings and reflect on their journeys. The Poet’s voice is a bridge between the seen and the unseen, awakening the soul to the richness of existence.
The Parent embodies inter-generational connection, tracing lineage and keeping traditions. While the Parent is the memory-keeper of the past, their spirit is also one of sacrifice and selfless service to the future. They are a reminder of our own individual mothers and fathers, as well as our shared Godly Father. The Parent is generous and their presence is a comfort.
Which of these faces resonates with you? Maybe it’s more than one. Or maybe you can see parts of each face at the same time. However well you see your own Spirit reflected in God’s plan for your life, Numinism can help with clarity and support. Your work, your love, your interests, and each creative expression all play a part in making our world a better place.

Worship Services
While there are regional differences, and congregations are free to set their own practices to match the preferences of the Laity, most Nuministic Christian services follow a pattern that reflects the 9 faces of God.
Services are typically 90 minutes long. Equal time is devoted to each of the faces, with a 9-minute period of silence and reflection in the middle. Special members of the Laity (usually Deacons) are chosen to lead each section of service, while a Priest, Brother, or Sister of the Nuministic Church will oversee and assist. A typical Sunday service would include:
Investigations in Scripture (Verses or Stories)
Discernment and Group Discussion
Lesson for Life
Guided Movement
Holding Hands
9-minute Silence and Reflection
Poetry Reading
Prayers and Acts of Healing
Communion
